Furtuna Abebe
Associate Counselor
Furtuna Abebe is a second-year graduate student at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Growing up in Washington, D.C., to Eritrean immigrants, she attended undergrad at Salisbury University in Maryland. There she received a degree in Psychology and Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution. She is currently studying clinical mental health counseling, a program that focuses on clinical training and providing evidence-based counseling techniques. Furtuna has a background working with children and adolescents in school and in an inpatient psychiatric unit with a wide range of disorders like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD. Â
Furtuna's passion is to facilitate a healing and caring therapeutic relationship to support clients achieve their goals. Her theoretical approach is an integration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered therapy. Furtuna's goal is to work with each individual’s needs and create goals in order to make a positive impact.
